Amal Gochenour

PIccolo

Amal Gochenour was appointed piccolo player of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2018. She was previously a member of the Richmond Symphony and the Sarasota Opera Orchestra and has also appeared as a guest performer with the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington National Opera and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, she has performed with the PostClassical Ensemble, Smithsonian Chamber Players and the Williamsburg Symphonia.
Born in Kuwait and raised outside of Washington D.C., Ms. Gochenour began early musical studies on piano before switching to flute at the age of ten. She earned her undergraduate degree at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Brad Garner and Jack Wellbaum, and her Master of Music degree at Carnegie Mellon University as a student of Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza. Other influential teachers include Alice Weinreb and Judith Lapple.
