Chisa Kodaka

Second Violin

Chisa Kodaka joined the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s second violin section in 2022, shortly after graduating from Rice University, Shepherd School of Music (MM ‘22) under the tutelage of Kathleen Winkler. A Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation Scholarship recipient, Chisa served as Ms. Winkler’s Teaching Assistant from 2020-22 and was awarded the Mrs. L.F. McCollum Fellowship in outstanding achievement and promise. She received her Bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School in 2019 under the guidance of Lewis Kaplan.
 
Prior to her position with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Chisa regularly performed with orchestras including Houston Symphony, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, Symphony in C, and New Haven Symphony Orchestra. She has held fellowship positions at festivals including the Tanglewood Music Center (‘19, ‘21), Music Academy of the West (‘17, ‘18), and Summit Music Festival- Aaron Rosand Intensive (‘15, ‘16).
 
In addition to performing, Chisa is a passionate educator, maintaining a small private studio, and previously holding teaching positions at the New Amsterdam Conservatory of Music, Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Music Academy of the West as a MERIT Mentor, Vivo Professional Music School, and Vivace International School of Music.
